I am Olena Kovalova – an experienced freelance Surface Pattern Designer & Illustrator from Ukraine. I specialize in creating captivating illustrations and intricate surface patterns. My passion lies in blending traditional artistry with modern digital techniques to bring designs to life that are both visually striking and inspiring.
My journey as an artist is deeply rooted in my love for storytelling through patterns and illustrations. I draw endless inspiration from nature — its animals, plants, and landscapes — which shapes my work into authentic creations. Growing up surrounded by the beauty of the natural world, I’ve developed a strong connection to it, which I reflect on every project I take on.
My style is versatile, ranging from whimsical, textured illustrations to elegant, vintage-inspired patterns. I enjoy experimenting with both traditional materials like watercolor and ink, and digital tools such as Krita, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. This flexibility allows me to adapt to a wide variety of creative projects, whether it’s detailed children’s book illustrations or sophisticated textile patterns.
In addition to freelancing, I license my artwork and sell designs on marketplaces and print-on-demand platforms. No matter the project, my goal is to create something authentic, beautiful, and meaningful — art that tells a story and inspires dreams.
